From what I read already, they are very stuck up and have high standards. The Iranian American girl I dated had super controlling parents. Persian-American, not religious, 26 yrs old, father not in the picture, mother is-havent met her yet. I believe that some of this is related to the perception that they will more likely find a virgin in the more conservative and traditional of the two cultures (the middle-eastern one), but that it also relates to cultural similarities.
Believe it or not, there are more differences WITHIN a culture than BETWEEN cultures…and research can back that up! Stay open and you will attract an Iranian man who is more open. I think that there is this perception perpetuated by parents and taught to their children generation after generation – that is based more on ideals than on reality. The times are changing in ALL cultures and the younger generations across the world are probably becoming more alike than they ever were in the past because of technology, the internet, ease of travel, and so forth. My problem is that time and again I meet men who think Oh, she’s easy because she is ‘English’ and they then revert back to marrying Persian girls. I hope that many members of our community write in and share their thoughts as well, and I hope that some of them serve to provide evidence contrary to your assumptions.
Obviously internet dating is a minefield of predatory men who are only after one thing. Are we non Persian girls just for dating or bedding? I am, of course, not saying that your assumptions are incorrect.
The MOST RESPONSIBLE things for parents to do is to teach whatever values they choose, but to also “keep it real” and not ignore things in the hopes that they just won’t exist or happen. It’s difficult to change stereotypes that have been around for decades or centuries perhaps.
Talking to our kids with honesty and allowing them to open up to us is the BEST way for us to protect them and INFORM them. But, the one thing that you can control is your own behavior. Iranian men get a bad rap for being male chauvinistic, abusive, possessive, jealous, insecure, hairy, fixated on jokes related to bowel movements, and it goes on and on.
I am asking in general, from guys with experience..do the differ from white girls?
This one doesnt seem to hold either trait, although I dont take her to crap places either as I prefer the nicer joints.
This sense of being distinguished ocassionally translates to the personal level which goes back to your stuck up/high standards. But more seriously: IME (which goes beyond this particular man), Persians are very proud people who (understandably) view their very rich intellectual and cultural heritage as something that makes their history quite distinguished. whatever you do, do not make the mistake of lumping arabs and persians into some homogenised middle eastern glob of sameness. or hookaah (arab) as it's more commonly known Please note: The suggestions and advice offered on this web site are opinions only and are not to be used in the place of professional psychological counseling or medical advice.
