Position: The Department of Human Ecology in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting for a Professor and Department Chair.
The chair position offers an excellent opportunity to build innovative scholarly collaboration across disciplines in pursuit of healthy, equitable, and sustainable development at multiple scales: individual, community, region, and beyond.
The individual should be a recognized expert with a research program that aligns with the interdisciplinary research foci of the department.
Department: The department has 38 academic faculty (professors and specialists in cooperative extension), is responsible for delivering curricula in four undergraduate majors (Community and Regional Development, Human Development, Landscape Architecture, and Sustainable Environmental Design) and is the administrative home for three graduate groups (Community Development, Human Development, and Geography).
The social sciences research and teaching conducted in the department complements the college’s world renowned programs in agriculture and the environment by integrating themes of people, place, and power as these impact the major issues facing society, including climate change and social inequality.
Administrative Responsibilities: The position of department chair will be for a five-year term with the option for renewal.
An administrative stipend and summer compensation will be provided during the term.
